JOB PURPOSE : To conduct analytical tests in a safe and ethical manner to produce accurate results using technical expertise to support the analytical and testing services of the Laboratory, in line with international and industry recognised standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct tests and analysis to a high degree of accuracy and quality in conformance with established methods, instructions, and quality standards
- Conduct analysis using a range of methods, techniques and equipment ensuring that data and results are accurately recorded in accordance with guidelines
- Determine chemical and physical properties and compositions for the required products and prepare solutions and reagents to perform required tests and test samples of products to verify conformity to specifications
- Record and review test results and produce test reports describing procedures / methodology used and present results in an appropriate / required manner
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and supervise calibration in line with appropriate standards and internal procedures
- Assist in distribute / assign workload to junior staff and supervise progress of assigned analysis
- Ensure that test / analytical results conform to set laboratory requirements and are available for issue in the agreed target times
- Participate actively in the PTP programmes and follow up on SQC’s completion to comply with internal laboratory quality systems
- Produce, review and approve final Certificates of Quality in accordance with the clients’ instructions and Bureau Veritas / Inspectorate guidelines and standards
- Assist the Laboratory Manager / Assistant Laboratory Manager with the development, establishment and implementation of new analytical techniques and methods including the establishment of new instrumentation and training.
- Assist in the training of junior staff on test methods and relevant procedures
- Provide timely advice and reporting to the Laboratory Manager / Assistant Laboratory Manager on all analytical matters relevant to client requirements and lab operations, including monitoring of laboratory stocks and maintenance of QMS and HSE whilst ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a relevant science disciplineMinimum of 7 (seven) years of relevant experience.Fluent english spoken and written.HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY :
Must follow the business HSE rules and requirements, taking all reasonable steps to protect and ensure the health and safety of themselves and those that may be impacted by their actions. Only use equipment they are properly trained and competent to use, and not modify such equipment. Actively assesses risks and hazards and applies appropriate controls to mitigate.
