Position Summary

Purpose

Acquire knowledge, work experience and certification in American Petroleum Institute (API) disciplines through our career training and development programs. Work with qualified and experienced API Inspectors onsite to gain field experience and to gain an understanding of API techniques. Will be required to meet the API competence and quality standards as their API training plan progress in their employment with the company. At the end of your training program, you will have achieved API510-570 international recognized certification in inspection

Duties & Responsibilities

Functions

ESSENTIAL

  • To undertake a training plan over a 3- year period gaining API 510-570 at the end the apprenticeship. The following subjects and training will be covered.
  • Basic understanding in NDT(ASNT) disciplines
  • Preheat and post weld treatment
  • Welding procedure qualification and procedure review
  • General rules for welding and examination in API and ASME
  • Weld joint and casting quality factors
  • Damage mechanisms as per API 570
  • ASME V Non-Destructive Testing procedures
  • In-Service repairs
  • Assist qualified API Inspectors when performing their respective jobs
  • Undertake specific projects or jobs as instructed by their line manager.
  • Ensure that their logbook is updated as per instructed by their mentor.
  • To learn, perform with quality and be able to establish the most effective API techniques on components requiring inspection
  • To liaise with qualified inspector, supervisor and / or manager on any aspects of work you may be unsure about prior to undertaking the work
  • Carry out work in accordance with Oceaneering operating procedures and statutory / client specifications and requirements, where applicable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Safety

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable to ensure a safe working environment.

Actively participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks as required by company and client.

Ensure that all procedures are always adhered to and that required documentation is kept updated.

Other

Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.

Eliminate waste of whatever form, suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities - This position has NO direct supervisory responsibilities.

Offshore medical, BOSIET / Offshore Survival certification

  • Confined Space Entry training
  • API Qualifications with no prior experience
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristic

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within the oil and gas industry. (P)
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Windows based programs (E)
  • Excellent organisation and interpersonal skills. (E)
  • Flexible approach and ability to generate a team approach to problem solving (E)
  • Good communicator both written and verbal (E)
  • Good communicator in written, verbal, and technical to make complex terminology simple for the benefit of others (E).
  • Good client or support contractor relationship skills at various levels of seniority or diverse cultures (E).
