Estimator

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all tenders are prepared accurately, professionally and submitted timeously as set out by the company's standard operating procedure.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, BTech or BSc in Quantity Surveying.
• Minimum of 5 years of site and estimating experience. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, able to analyse information, able to solve problems, and be able to make decisions. Must be able to work under pressure and work independently.
• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the NEC and FIDIC general conditions of contract
• Able to speak Portuguese will be an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS – ESTIMATING & QUANTITY SURVEYING:

• Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labour expenses
• Read technical documents in order to prepare estimates
• Collaborate with sales teams, engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates
• Ensuring that all tenders are prepared accurately, professionally and submitted timeously.
• Recommend ways to produce a more cost-effective solution and increase profitability
• Effective Financial Management. Precise measurement for and preparation of payment applications and follow through to certification, invoicing and revenue collection.
• Contractual Claims Management. Identification, preparation, and timely submission of contractual claims for additional costs and extensions of time.
• Cost management. Comparison of project allowables vs actual cost.
• Contract Administration. Contractual correspondence, guarantees etc
